The river has always flown through these parts, for as long as anyone can remember.  Some say that a sorceress created it, long, long ago, in thanks for a brave deed performed by one of the townsfolk.  No one remembers exactly what the brave deed was, but however the river got here, it is what sustains us, the inhabitants of Nayane.  We drink from it, use it to water our crops, for everything.  Without it, we would not exist.  If the myth is true, the river would not exist without us.  Many still believe that there are sorceresses here.  I am beginning to think that perhaps I am one of them.
